IAMCP UK&I Young Professionals – Sleighing the Generation Gap: Let’s Talk Gen Z

How well do we really understand Gen Z at work? Join an open and interactive conversation exploring what Gen Z values, what managers can learn from them, and how we can communicate and work better across generations. This is a virtual event and is open to all.

Gen Z are becoming an increasingly important part of our workplaces, bringing different expectations, communication styles and perspectives on what they want from their careers. But are we always getting the best from them, and are some of our assumptions about Gen Z getting in the way? ‘Sleighing the Generation Gap: Let’s Talk Gen Z’ is an interactive discussion bringing together different generations to openly explore what works, what doesn’t and what we could all do differently. Rather than telling managers how to manage Gen Z, we want to hear different perspectives. What does good management look like to Gen Z? How do they want to receive feedback? What motivates them? Where do communication styles clash? And equally, what do managers need from younger employees to create strong, effective teams?

Our presenters, Imogen DeVille and Laura Deadman, will share their own experiences and perspectives, but the conversation won’t stop there. We’ll use questions, scenarios and audience discussion throughout the session so everyone can contribute ideas and experiences. The aim is simple: to leave with practical ideas for communicating, managing and working better across generations, while challenging a few stereotypes along the way.

Who should attend? Everyone is welcome, regardless of generation or IAMCP membership status. Particularly relevant for people managers, team leaders, senior leaders, HR and People teams, mentors, early-career employees, graduates and Gen Z employees who want to share their perspective.
