Marketing & Comms Director

What inspired you to join IAMCP UK?

Having joined Bespoke as their Marketing Director back in January 2020, l found that not only was I learning about a new business, but being new to the tech sector, I had so much to learn  about the industry too. Every day seemed to bring with it a new acronym.

“Are you an MSP, ISV, Indirect Provider, or a CSP”?

“Refer to your MPC quoting your MPN ID, make sure to access the GTM benefits and ensure you are keeping an eye on your coop funding”.

I’ll happily admit when I need help, and help was exactly what I needed.

Thankfully, around the time of my peak confusion, I was introduced to the IAMCP, after a good-long chat with their Members Lead, we signed up as Premier members. Later I popped along to one of their partner opportunity group calls and instantly realised this was where I needed to be in order to get the guidance needed to navigate the Micosoft eco-system. Everyone was incredibly welcoming, and happy to answer all of my questions, and because most people had been through a similar process, they were able to help me really quickly. If, on occasion, someone didn’t know the answer, they always knew who to point me in the direction of, which again, was of real value. I went on to attend a number of networking events, and have built up a great network of colleagues and partners, which has resulted in a number of partner-to-partner opportunities for Bespoke, and has helped in; keeping us up-to-date with any new Microsoft events, breaking down what the changes in MCPP mean, and keeping us posted on key wave releases etc.

In early 2022 I was asked if I would consider joining the IAMCP board – keen to give back to the network I had gained so much from, my answer was of course, yes! I am proud to sit amongst the other voluntary board members to drive forward the growth of the IAMCP. As the number of Microsoft Managed Partners continues to decrease, it is more important than ever that the IAMCP continues to be the bridge between Microsoft and the partner network.

Kelly Humpleby, Head of Memberships at IAMCP UK

My role in the UK IAMCP board is the Treasurer. Effectively this sits me at the head of the UK chapter’s Finance committee, making sure that all our regulatory requirements are fulfilled, I attend finance meetings with the wider EMEA & International elements of the IAMCP, & basically ensure that the chapters funds are efficiently channelled back into events & opportunities to its members. I have been part of the Microsoft Partner community since working with a Gold partner for about 8 years before I left them, & have now started up my own small practice delivering Dynamics 365 implementation services. I joined the UK board in late 2019, just before the ravages of the pandemic, never having been involved with a Not-for-Profit organisation before. In my time as Treasurer, we have put a strong financial base in place for this organisation to provide great services to its members that will help them to Connect, Learn & Grow.

The role is voluntary & sometimes it can be difficult to fit into a busy working life, however, I feel quite a privilege to be able to give back something to a community that has looked after me for a big part of my working life. It is varied & is not just a bean counting exercise, although that is a large part of providing the finances to the board, but I also get involved in the directing the funds to the right areas to ensure we keep growing members & putting on great events to provide an effective platform that provides paths to building great futures.

The advantages that being a member of the IAMCP provides is obvious now that I am once again growing a business within the Microsoft partner network. It is a very strange land to navigate around but at least I know that with the IAMCP I have a great community that I can turn to for assistance. Life for a business of such small stature would be difficult but, in my role, I get to go to events & network with other great partners that lead to great relationships & opportunities to push my business on to growth. I learn a lot from the meetings with Microsoft & partner experts that give superb advice on business strategies specifically focusing on Microsoft programmes & the vast ecosystem. But most importantly, even a business of small size, can have its voice heard by the giants as the IAMCP provides access to Microsoft UK executives & staff at regular meetings. I feel that on its own is of great significance. I feel honoured to be part of a team that provides all these great services.
